Assistant Manager – Cargo Claims & Documentation Compliance
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate cargo claims by reviewing relevant documentation such as Bills of Lading and survey reports, and determine root causes.
Verify claims in accordance with shipping terms and maintain precise records and summary reports.
Liaise with maritime consultants, legal advisors, customers, surveyors, insurers, and internal departments to facilitate claim resolution.
Monitor and follow up on claim settlements to ensure timely and guideline-compliant resolutions.
Ensure adherence to legal standards and provide risk analysis and trend monitoring insights.
Mentor and coach team members to enhance claims handling capabilities.
Collaborate with HR and BPM teams to deliver staff awareness sessions on carrier responsibilities and legal best practices.
Support contract review and editing for logistics vendors and customers, ensuring prompt and accurate handling.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Law, or a related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Shipping or Logistics industry.
2–3 years of hands-on experience in cargo claims or maritime law.
Solid understanding of claims negotiation and handling in the Shipping & Logistics sector.
Familiarity with maritime regulations and cargo liability principles.
Strong analytical and project management skills.
Excellent organizational abilities and process improvement knowledge.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with shipping software and SAP is advantageous.
Strong command of English in speaking, reading, and writing.
