The Internal Audit Manager role leads the planning and execution of internal audit activities to support effective risk management, internal controls, and corporate governance. The position oversees audit quality, reporting, team resources, and professional development while providing management with clear and actionable recommendations.
Responsibilities
Develop the annual internal audit plan by evaluating risk levels and prioritising activities to ensure comprehensive coverage and alignment with the organisation’s strategic goals
Oversee and monitor audit activities, ensuring compliance with the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) framework and international internal audit standards
Assess risk management and internal control systems, identify weaknesses, and recommend corrective measures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
Review audit findings and draft audit reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and actionable recommendations
Present audit results and recommendations to management, highlighting risks, deficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
Plan and manage team schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure the timely execution of approved audit plans
Lead the development of training programmes to keep the internal audit team informed of professional practices and regulatory changes
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
10–15 years of experience in internal audit
Strong knowledge of audit methodologies, risk management, and internal controls
Proficiency in audit management software and data analytics tools
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work within tight deadlines
A Master’s degree or professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor, is highly desirable
