Location : Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, Thailand.
Position : Packaging Design Engineer (Automotive)
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop efficient packaging for automotive parts (metal, plastic, electronic, etc.) ensuring product protection during transit, storage, and handling
Evaluate and select appropriate materials based on product type, weight, and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to optimize packaging for cost, space utilization, and ease of use
Create and maintain packaging documentation including specifications, CAD drawings, and test reports
Conduct packaging validation and testing (vibration, drop, compression, environmental) as per automotive standards
Support packaging development for new product introductions (NPIs) and engineering changes
Lead packaging trials and implement corrective actions for damage reduction
Ensure compliance with global packaging regulations, sustainability initiatives, and customer-specific requirements
Analyze supply chain and logistics data to drive improvements in packaging performance
Manage returnable packaging systems (e.g., racks, bins) and track container usage
Interface with OEMs or Tier-1 customers on packaging approvals and requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
3+ years of experience in packaging design or engineering (automotive or manufacturing industry preferred)
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and packaging design tools
Familiarity with ISTA, ASTM, and OEM-specific packaging standards
Strong knowledge of packaging materials: corrugated, foam, plastics, metals, reusable systems
Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is a plus
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize under tight deadlines
