Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
  • Develop and drive strategies for total cost reduction
  • Create negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
  • Develop and maintain Supply Agreements with all key suppliers
  • Lead development and execution of a performance driven supplier management process
  • Build vendor relationships
  • Develop and maintain commodity purchasing and analysis processes
  • Coordinate and manage strategic sourcing activities and sourcing decisions ensuring the Supplier Selection Process is followed
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and processes
  • Perform supplier audits and surveys for sourcing selection
  • Assist internal customers with any procurement requirements
  • Manage key suppliers from quote to delivery as required through both discrete Purchase Orders and Supplier Schedules
  • Where possible and appropriate ensure all procurement is completed over Supplier Schedules
  • Assist Buyer/Planners with suppliers to ensure material plan is met or recovered
  • Develop clear goals and objectives for direct reports that flow to all staff
  • Coordinate with the team to complete work on time and to expectations
  • Monitor and review team performance and behavior in areas such as productivity, attendance, OH&S, work quality and general morale
  • Mentoring, coaching and development of direct reports and wider Supply Chain team
  • Implement job rotation, multi skilling and training where appropriate
  • Monitor, maintain and participate in safety awareness and activities that encourage cross functional teams that drive safety improvement
  • Communicate company and departmental directional objectives, progress against plans, initiatives, changes and successes
  • Ensure effective improvement plans or disciplinary actions are instigated where work performance does not meet the required standards or department objectives.
  • Support the development of employee welfare
  • Drive buyer/planners to get optimal outcomes for purchasing
  • Ensure purchasing activities are working with global purchasing teams and benefits are leveraged globally
  • Develop, drive and communicate to organization strategic procurement, supplier and other applicable KPI’s
  • Ensure Purchasing supports business requirements especially Engineering R&D
  • Have overall responsibility that purchasing policy is correct within ERP system
  • Implement and maintain best practice procurement and supplier management processes
  • Drive down lead-times on a continuing basis
  • Ensure the working environment is safe at all times and activities conducted are safe and don't harm self or other employees
  • Eliminate risks in the working environment by conducting housekeeping, conducting risk assessments and working the line manager to eliminate or at least mitigate the hazards
  • Participate and conduct safety audits for assigned areas

 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s), in either a Supply Chain or Engineering
  • 8+ years’ experience in Procurement
  • Experience managing/building procurement teams
  • Sound understanding of purchasing management systems and processes
  • Skills and experience in supplier negotiations and management
  • Experience in using ERP systems
  • Must have moderate computer skills knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software
  • Good English speaking skills
