POSITION:            ENGINEERING MANAGER

BUSINESS:           AUTOMOTIVE PART (PLASTIC) MANUFACTURING

LOCATION:           SAMUT PRAKARN

SALARY:                 70,000 – 100,000 THB

Job Summary: The Engineering Manager will lead and manage all engineering activities within our automotive plastic part manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for optimizing production processes, ensuring product quality, driving continuous improvement, and overseeing new product introduction from design to mass production. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in plastic injection molding and automotive industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers (Process, Product, Manufacturing, Tooling). Foster a culture of continuous improvement, problem-solving, and innovation.
  • Process Optimization & Efficiency: Oversee the optimization of plastic injection molding processes to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and lower production costs. Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Manage the engineering aspects of new product launches, ensuring smooth transition from design to production, including DFM/DFA, tooling, and process validation (PPAP).
  • Tooling & Equipment Management: Oversee the design, procurement, maintenance, and optimization of molds, dies, and other production equipment for plastic parts.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure products meet automotive industry quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949) and customer specifications. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Project Management: Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and successful implementation.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical guidance and support to production, maintenance, and quality departments for complex manufacturing issues.
  • Budget Management: Manage the engineering department's budget, including capital expenditure planning for new equipment and technology.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in engineering within the automotive manufacturing industry, specifically with plastic injection molded parts.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding processes, materials, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards and quality systems (e.g., IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements, cost reduction, and new product launches.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
