The Materials Planning role plays an important part in supporting supply continuity, inventory planning, and supplier coordination for a global jewellery company. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in materials planning, procurement, or supplier management who can manage purchasing activities, support material transitions, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
Collaborate with the materials planning team to align production forecasts with purchasing strategies
Use data-driven forecasting to optimise inventory and shorten lead times
Identify risks in supply plans and design proactive solutions
Develop alternative sourcing strategies and contingency plans to ensure supply chain resilience
Purchase Order Oversight
Ensure accuracy in purchase orders to reduce inefficiencies and rework
Generate and manage orders using MRP signals, planning inputs, and demand requirements
Keep purchasing records precise and up to date, including POs, delivery schedules, and supplier confirmations
Provide timely updates on order progress and potential supply risks
Resolve and close long-standing purchase orders promptly
Process return orders within agreed timelines
Escalate issues when needed and keep management informed
Supplier Collaboration
Monitor supplier performance across delivery timelines and service quality
Summarise key findings in supplier performance reports
Offer constructive feedback to strengthen long-term supplier relationships
Partner with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and align with company standards
Management Support
Execute tasks and projects assigned by leadership with precision
Collaborate with management to advance strategic initiatives and contribute to departmental success
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain and Logistics, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced certifications preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in materials planning, procurement, sourcing, or supply management
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and guide decisions
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to evaluate options and provide sound recommendations
Strong planning and execution skills in complex, high-volume environments
Proficiency in ERP and procurement systems
Advanced Excel skills; working knowledge of Power BI
Ability to thrive in fast-paced settings, balancing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Independent, accountable, and solution-oriented with strong stakeholder management skills
Able to communicate in English
