The Melting & Casting Department Manager role leads the complete aluminium melting and casting process at an automotive parts and aluminium alloy wheel manufacturing plant in Ayutthaya. The position is responsible for achieving quality, productivity, cost, safety, and production targets while developing team capabilities and introducing new technologies and techniques to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Plan, manage, and control aluminium melting and casting operations to achieve production targets and delivery schedules
Ensure molten metal and casting product quality meets established standards, reducing defects through root cause analysis and effective countermeasures
Plan and control the use of energy, melting furnaces, equipment, materials, and raw materials to maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Lead, supervise, and develop engineers, supervisors, and operators within the melting and casting department to maintain safe and efficient operations
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards, including OHSAS and ISO 45001, and automotive quality management systems, including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
Implement Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Metallurgical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position within a melting and casting department
Direct experience in aluminium alloy wheel manufacturing or automotive aluminium casting processes, such as Low Pressure Casting, Gravity Casting, or High Pressure Die Casting
Strong knowledge of aluminium alloy properties, molten metal treatment processes, including degassing, fluxing, and modification, and melting furnace technology
Good understanding of automotive quality management and related standards, including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and team management abilities
Additional information
Monthly salary of THB 60,000–80,000, depending on experience and company structure
