Position: Director of PVD Surface Processing
Salary: 150,000 – 200,000THB +/- (Negotiable)

Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the global PVD surface processing strategy, aligned with corporate manufacturing and technology roadmaps
Lead and develop multi‑site PVD engineering, production, and technical teams
Act as the subject‑matter authority for PVD coating technologies across the organization
Support capacity expansion, new factory launches, and equipment investments
Technical Excellence & Process Engineering
Oversee all PVD coating processes, including:
Magnetron sputtering
Arc evaporation
Multi‑layer and nano‑structured coatings
Drive development and optimization of coatings for:
Wear resistance
Corrosion protection
Decorative finishes
Optical or functional surfaces
Lead process window definition, recipe control, and SPC
Review and approve new equipment specifications and technology upgrades
Quality & Customer Interface
Ensure coatings meet automotive / aerospace / electronics customer standards
Own coating‑related KPIs: Adhesion, Thickness uniformity, Hardness, Cosmetic quality
Lead root‑cause analysis for coating defects and customer claims
Serve as senior technical interface for OEMs, Tier‑1 customers, and strategic partners
Manufacturing Operations & Cost Optimization
Drive yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and cost per piece optimization
Optimize target usage, chamber uptime, preventive maintenance, and consumables
Implement Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles in PVD operations
Balance high‑volume production with flexibility for new products
New Product & Technology Development
Lead PVD involvement in: New product introduction (NPI), Advanced material development, Coating prototyping and scale‑up
Collaborate with: R&D, Product Engineering, Tooling and Materials teams
Monitor emerging technologies and competitors to maintain technical leadership
Supplier & Partner Management
Manage relationships with:
Lead technical evaluations, supplier selection, and long‑term partnerships
Negotiate technical capabilities and cost structures
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Materials Science, Surface Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or related discipline
Experience 12–18+ years experience in PVD coating technologies and 5+ years in senior leadership or director‑level role Proven experience in high‑volume manufacturing environments
Technical Expertise Deep knowledge of: PVD process physics, Coating characterization techniques,Failure analysis and adhesion mechanisms
Experience with industrial PVD equipment suppliers
Understanding of surface pretreatment and post‑processing
Strategic thinker with strong execution capability
Ability to bridge R&D, production, and customer expectations
Influential leader across cultures and regions
Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages a plus)
